Lady of the Lighthouse original painting by LauraSue Gutierrez.
Acrylic on a 16x20 canvas board.
In this painting I present to you a hauntingly beautiful scene of a mysterious lady on the shore in front of a lighthouse as the lighthouse keeper stares atop mesmerized by her beauty.
With the full moon in the background and the waves hitting the shoreline.
It is framed in an antique frame that measures 19.5x23.5, dark mahogany with antique gold inlay.
When you purchase this painting you will also receive a copy of my original poem written specifically for this painting:
LADY OF THE LIGHTHOUSE
He stands atop the lighthouse,
As he has done every night since he took this watch.
He is waiting for her to appear again.
First comes her song, soft and lilting upon the wind.
Her voice is the most hauntingly, mournful sound he has ever heard.
Absolutely smitten with this woman,
He watches as she glides gracefully across the sand.
Her face beams with radiance and loveliness.
He longs to touch her cheek, maybe kiss her lips;
Or perhaps just hold hands with this lovely creature.
He shakes his head, trying to dismiss the fantasy.
For it is just that, a fantasy…
She can never be his and it saddens him deeply.
He watches nightly, her ghostly ritual by the shore.
Staring longingly at the lady, she stares longingly out to sea.
Vacant eyes viewing waves from long ago.
He is mad with desire and soon he will be just plain mad.
When he can no longer stand to only dream of her;
He will leap from the tower as every keeper before him has done.
To have one chance to touch her face and gaze upon her beauty.
She will take his hand and lead him into the murky depths,
Where he will join the others in their dark, watery grave.
She will return to her vigil, waiting for a new keeper to arrive,
Then the Lady of the Lighthouse will begin her ghostly ritual, once again…
